Internal Medicine

Patients are encouraged to select a primary care physician who is dedicated to the overall care of the patient. This physician establishes an ongoing relationship with the patient, becomes familiar with his/her needs and sees the patient for routine visits.

All patients are seen by appointment only. For urgent needs, patients may be seen by their primary care physician, schedule permitting, or by another physician in the department who has been designated to see urgent problems that day. Patients should call early in the day to ensure they will be accommodated. All physicians share the medical record and communicate with each other regarding the care of the patient. Should the need arise; the primary care physician will refer the patient for specialty care.

Within the department, there are physicians who have subspecialties in Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Endocrinology and Geriatrics. In addition to primary care services, Internal Medicine patients can be seen by one of these specialists who perform the full range of services in their respective specialties. In Gastroenterology, procedures are done in our Endocsopy suite. Patients are encouraged to have a colonoscopy for the routine screening of colon cancer. In cardiology, patients are treated for cardiac conditions; nuclear stress testing and echocardiography are performed. The Nephrology department treats hypertension and performs dialysis. Our Endocrinologist treats patients with diabetes and thyroid conditions. The Group also has both a certified diabetic educator and a registered dietician.

Telephone Calls and After Hours: The physicians each establish their own policies regarding telephone calls. In general, they are not available to take calls during patient hours, but return calls during breaks in the schedule or after-hours. After hours you will be connected with our answering service who will contact a physician. Medical attention is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week
