Pediatrics
Most parents select one of our pediatricians with whom they can schedule routine visits and establish an ongoing relationship and who will become familiar with the needs of the child and family. All patients are seen by appointment only.
In case of illness and depending on the urgency of the problem, an appointment may be obtained with any one of the pediatricians who is available on that day. All members of the department share the medical record and the pediatricians communicate with each other regarding the care of patients within the Group.
Newborn Care
Newborns are seen by one of the pediatricians in the Nursery at Huntington Hospital on a daily basis and when the need arises, by a neonatologist from the Division of Neonatal Medicine of North Shore University Hospital with which Huntington Hospital is affiliated.
Early follow-up of newborns in the office is encouraged, followed by routine visits at prescribed intervals. The goals of the visits include assessments of growth, neuro-developmental progress, physical examination, the administration of vaccines to prevent a variety of infectious diseases, as well as guidance and advice on topics such as nutrition and common behavior issues.
Vaccines
Immunizations against infectious diseases is a critical part of preventive care and required for school-entry.
